Mike Parry has raved over Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who saved a crucial penalty in the England v Switzerland game at Euro 2024.

With the game deadlocked at 1-1 after 120 minutes on 6 July, it took a penalty shootout for the Three Lions to qualify for the semi-finals.

Pickford saved the spot kick of Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji which proved to be the only miss of the shootout.

Via Twitter, Parry, a Toffees shareholder, wrote: “I think we have to agree the most vital player in England’s magnificent victory this evening was Jordan Pickford .. Saved the first penalty and infused total confidence into England’s own penalty takers. It proves one of football’s truisms.”
