Malky Thomson shares verdict on Clinton Nsiala after Rangers B team performance

Rangers B team boss Malky Thomson has given an honest assessment of Clinton Nsiala’s performance after he made an appearance on Wednesday (14 August).

During a 3-2 win over Clyde, Nsiala was judged to have caught a player with a high foot (14 August). As a result, the opposition were awarded a penalty. Thankfully, it didn’t make too much of a difference to the overall result.

During an interview after the game (posted by Four Lads Had A Dream, 14 August), Thomson spoke candidly about the youngster’s efforts.

“Yeah I think for anybody who comes into Glasgow Rangers and especially – it’s hard enough for younger ones to come in who are local from Glasgow or maybe even from down south, but I think when you come from a foreign country it’s difficult.

“It takes time but certainly he’s got a good group of staff round about him, a good group of players round about him and he’ll get better and better as he trains and he plays. So, it’s up to him and us to come together and get him to a level where he can go into the first team.”

Nsiala’s slow Rangers start

Ever since his arrival (1 July), there’s been a real buzz in the air about Nsiala. While he hasn’t had that much first-team experience after failing to break into the starting XI for AC Milan, his talent is there for all to see. From his resilience to his willingness to get stuck in, he fits the mould perfectly.

With that being said, it’ll take time for him to adjust to this style. The popular opinion seems to be that he was unlucky with the aforementioned penalty and that, in general, he played well. Still, he needs to get some real minutes under him before locking down a consistent starting spot at Ibrox.

He’s only at the start of his playing career and this is a great learning curve for him. Rangers aren’t yet going to be playing at the elite level like Milan, and they’re going to face another fierice battle in the title race – but that’ll hopefully bring out the real fight in him.

In other Rangers news, £4.5m deal agreed as long-term striker target looks set to complete transfer.
