Manchester City fans trying to leave Juventus Stadium after the 2-0 defeat last night had a brutal” experience, according to Mark Ogden.

The reigning Premier League champions suffered another loss (11 December) against Juventus in the Champions League, making it just one win in their last ten matches.

The defeat to the Old Lady puts the Cityzens in danger of falling out of Europe’s elite club competition. They sit in 22nd place in the new league format.

Fans attempted to leave the stadium, after Weston McKennie made it 2-0 but faced a “brutal” experience of being held in place to prolong their misery.

Mark Ogden, senior writer for ESPN, claimed on X that “Man City fans trying to leave the Juventus Stadium have just been told over loudspeaker that they have to stay until they’re allowed out. Brutal.”

Man City fans are showing their frustration with Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola is experiencing a run of form that is unprecedented for one of the world’s elite coaches.

He now faces questioning from pundits and fans due to decisions that are hindering performances. Lee Hendrie was baffled by the Catalan’s choice to take off Grealish while they were trailing and was visibly confused by some substitutions.

Fans have also voiced their concerns, as this poor form is beginning to feel reminiscent of the pre-new ownership days. Some have even called for the legendary manager to be sacked after yesterday’s loss.

The Sky Blues have enjoyed their most successful period in history under Guardiola. He has won six Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and a Champions League.

He will always have the backing of some fans and the owners, as a sacking seems unlikely, especially after a new deal last month.

But form must improve. They sit eight points adrift of long-term rivals Liverpool and are one point clear from elimination from the Champions League.

With the 115 charges looming over their heads, questions are being raised about whether this has impacted performances on the pitch. A decision on their alleged Premier League rule breaches could be reached before the end of next month [The Times].
