'Man City Will Know' - Keith Wyness: Star man could quit for 'very tempting' move in 2025

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Kevin De Bruyne will be “very tempted” to join San Diego FC when he quits Man City.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed City will know the ageing playmaker is “coming to the end of his life at the club”.

According to GiveMeSport (25 October), De Bruyne has held preliminary talks with MLS expansion franchise San Diego FC over a switch to North America.

The Belgium international has also been widely linked with Saudi Pro League clubs.

De Bruyne is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season but has refused to be drawn on his future.

The 33-year-old is currently out with a thigh injury which has kept him out of action for six weeks so far.

‘San Diego life’ will be tempting for Man City star De Bruyne, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “City will be aware De Bruyne is coming to the end of his life at the club.

“Saudi looked to be an option for him, but San Diego makes sense as well. De Bruyne would be an attractive franchise player for them.

“He’s perhaps not quite the personality some teams have had in the past, but he’s a quality player who can attract a crowd and help San Diego.

“It’ll be a personal decision for De Bruyne. He can command a very high salary in Saudi, but it’s about lifestyle as well.

“I think the San Diego life will be very tempting for him.”
