Man United fans have turned on former coach Benni McCarthy after claiming he “can’t see who’s better than Erik ten Hag”.

McCarthy, 46, was appointed as first-team coach at Old Trafford in 2022 but chose to leave at the end of last season in the hope of starting a managerial career.

In an interview with South African outlet SuperSport, the former striker said, “Who else is better than Ten Hag?”

“You’re not gonna get many managers unless Pep decides to change from Man City to United, then maybe you might have a change in fortunes, but other than that, I can’t see who’s better than Ten Hag.”

Ten Hag, 54, is under growing pressure after Man United’s shocking start to the season with the 20-time Premier League champions sitting in 14 after their first seven league games.

Football Insider revealed (October 10) that the players are starting to become increasingly frustrated with the Dutchman, citing his recent treatment of Marcus Rashford.
