Man Utd fans ‘fear the worst’ as two stars are ruled out of Arsenal clash
Not ideal for Ruben Amorim...
Manchester United fans are fearing the worst after two players were ruled out of their upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal.
United travel to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night hoping to continue their revival under Ruben Amorim and dent Arsenal’s title challenge.
But Amorim, who was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s replacement last month, will be without two key players in north London.
Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo were walking on a disciplinary tightrope ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
Both on four yellow cards for the season, they knew any further cautions would result in a one-match suspension and rule them out of the intriguing clash with Arsenal.
After a cagey opening half an hour at Old Trafford, Manchester United took the lead through Marcus Rashford, who also scored in Amorim’s first game in charge against Ipswich Town.
Summer signing Joshua Zirzkee doubled United’s advantage on the stroke of half-time with only his first goal since the opening-day win over Fulham.
Manchester United added a third shortly after the restart – Rashford continuing his revival with his second of the afternoon – while Zirzkee also bagged a second on the hour mark, United in dreamland under their new manager.
But it was not all going United’s way and Amorim was frustrated to see both Martinez and Mainoo go into the book after half-time, ruling them both out against Arsenal.
