Manchester United fans made their feelings clear on the Glazer family and Jim Ratcliffe during a protest outside Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

There is outrage among Red Devils supporters after a significant increase in ticket prices earlier this week.

Tickets previously started at £40 for adults and £25 for children but have been raised to £66 and concessions have been scrapped for the rest of the season.

A statement from the Manchester United Supporters Trust read: ‘The club has provided zero consultation on the matter, neither with the forum nor the Fan Advisory Board nor MUST. We were simply informed of the decision that there will be price rises affecting certain fans that are “urgently needed” to address profitability and sustainability concerns.

‘There is a risk that this is only the opening salvo of what will surely be massive pressure to implement a significant price rise for next season. Once they have got used to charging £132 for a parent and child to come to [Old Trafford], will they really go back to the old pricing levels for next season?’

Protests against the move were held at Old Trafford ahead of the Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.

A large banner read ‘Stop Exploiting Loyalty’ while a smaller sign showed the words: ‘Local lad Sir Jim charges £66 for OAPs and juniors. Stop Exploiting Loyalty.’

There were a number of X-rated chants heard from the Manchester United fans, with the Glazers and Ratcliffe coming in for abuse.

Fans sang: ‘Jim Ratcliffe’s a c***, Jim Ratcliffe’s a c***, just like the Glazers, Jim Ratcliffe’s a c***.’

Supporters also chanted, ‘You can stick your 66 up are your ae’ and ‘You touting b***ds, you’re forcing us out.’

Some Everton fans also joined the protest and supporters of Liverpool and Manchester City are expected to make their voices heard outside Anfield later in the afternoon.

A spokesperson for Manchester United fan group FC58 said: ‘The rivalry between these four clubs has been, and is, fierce. But we all go to games, love our club and want to keep football affordable for future generations while protecting heritage and communities.

‘The only way we can achieve this is collaboration. This is our first step. This movement will grow.’
