Manuel Ugarte set to sign for Man Utd after PSG give permission for medical ahead of £52m move
Finally!
Manchester United hope to sign Manuel Ugarte in the next 48 hours after Paris Saint-Germain gave the midfielder permission to travel to the UK for a medical with the club.
The Red Devils have been in negotiations with the Ligue 1 giants since the start of the summer.
The club explored a loan deal with an obligation to buy but Scott McTominay’s proposed £25m move to Napoli has allowed United to agree a £42m initial fee for Ugarte.
The deal, which includes around £8m in add-ons, could see United pay £50m for the former Sporting Lisbon ace according to widespread reports.
Ugarte joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon in 2023 for a fee of around £52m.
Despite an impressive start in the French capital, Luis Enrique favoured Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz in the second half of the campaign.
United have been seeking for a long-term replacement for Casemiro and are short in midfield following Sofyan Amrabat’s departure.
Ugarte will become United’s fifth signing of the summer following Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
The Red Devils host Liverpool on Sunday following their 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.
