Tottenham are rightly considered in the same bracket as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United after a £3.75billion valuation emerged, according to Dan Plumley.
It was reported by The Times that Spurs are seeking a minority investment, one that would value the club at the whopping £3.75bn figure.
Finance expert Plumley thinks the “massive” figure makes sense when compared to other valuations in recent years, particularly when taking into account the huge commercial attraction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “It’s massive.
“It goes back to some of those things around the added value of what a stadium can bring and those extra events will factor into that evaluation.
“We talk a lot nowadays about the kind of added value on a club in terms of its fanbase and its global reach and it’s tough to measure that.
“But there’s a lot of work in the space I work in trying to do that, the valuation techniques I’ve always been involved in have always had Spurs in and around that sort of £3bn bracket.
“Certainly in the last few years and certainly with the move to the new stadium. You look at the price of Chelsea as an example and Manchester United when that was being spoken about as a full takeover they’re in that group, that sar of £3bn-plus gap if you will for clubs in the Premier League.
“It feels about right, but it’s a significant value and testament to the club that financially it’s been run really well for a long time and that’s the kind of valuation you can then go to investors with strong evidence-based figures behind it as well.”
Tottenham is a huge financial success
While success on the pitch continues to elude Tottenham in terms of trophies, off it the club are an absolute resounding success financially.
There were emotional goodbyes to old White Hart Lane, but the economic and commercial benefits that the new stadium has brought cannot be overstated.
It has helped make Spurs become one of the most commercially successful clubs in the world and should have benefits for the foreseeable future.
It means that anyone looking to get involved in the ownership at Spurs will have to have deep pockets, a mark of where the club stands right now.
