Jamie Shackleton has undergone a medical at Sheffield United ahead of a move from Leeds United, sources have told Football Insider.
As revealed by Football Insider on 27 June, the Blades reached an agreement with the versatile midfielder to join on a free transfer.
The deal is expected to be announced soon now that Shackleton’s Leeds contract has ran out.
Shackleton, 24, saw his contract with Daniel Farke’s side expire on 1 July after failing to agree on terms over an extension.
He is set to be the third senior Leeds player to leave within days after the announced departure of Marc Roca on a permanent transfer to Real Betis and the imminent move of Charlie Cresswell to Toulouse.
This allowed Sheffield United to get the deal over the line quickly after several key players including Max Lowe, Oliver Norwood and Geroge Baldock departed Bramall Lane.

Shackleton is a product of Leeds’ academy, coming through to make 94 appearances for the club, although he was never able to establish himself in the first team.
Last season, he made just 15 appearances across all competitions.
He spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Millwall, making 36 Championship appearances and proving he can perform to a high standard in the second tier.
His versatility has seen him fill in across the midfield and both full-back positions as well as out wide, and will lend itself well to Chris Wilder’s squad.
Sheffield United’s disappointing relegation last time out has seen a major reset at the club, with Shackleton the latest name added to their promotion push.
Leeds, meanwhile, will look to strengthen their squad after the midfielder’s exit to enhance their promotion push after faltering in the playoffs last time out.
