'Messed that up' - Lilywhite Rose blasts 'Stupid' Tottenham star after what he did

John Wenham doesn’t expect Radu Drăgușin to replace Cristian Romero against West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (19 October).

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the Romanian ruined any chance of a run in Ange Postecoglou’s side after he was sent off seven minutes into Spurs’ 3-0 win over Qarabağ in the UEFA Europa League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (26 September).

Romero hasn’t been at his best this season. In addition, he featured in Argentina’s 6-0 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying victory over Bolivia, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday (16 October), United Kingdom Time.

Therefore, after making an impression on international duty, Drăgușin might have felt as though this would be the perfect opportunity for a start.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t expect the Romanian to get a look in, despite Romero’s lack of time to prepare for the West Ham clash.

“I think the issue is that Drăgușin had an opportunity to come in and stake his claim,” Wenham said.

“However, he got sent off when he did. I had been suggesting before that happened that maybe he could come in and have a run in the side, as I was impressed by him against Newcastle.

“But after his stupid sending-off, he messed that up for himself. I do expect him to come back into the team relatively soon for the Europa League, now that he has served his ban.

“And it will be up to him to impress and not do anything stupid again.”

Radu Drăgușin must earn back Ange Postecoglou’s trust at Tottenham

Drăgușin is an important squad player in North London. As a result, considering Romero’s quick turnaround from Argentina duty, Postecoglou might have wanted to give him a rest and start Drăgușin.

However, after the centre-back’s sloppy mistake in the Europa League, he will likely need to earn back Postecoglou’s trust.

The opportunity to do that is unlikely to come in an important London derby such as this one. However, whenever Drăgușin does play, he needs to remind his manager just how good he can be.
