Mohamed Salah’s agent hits out at new Liverpool contract rumours
'This post is really just to tell you that they don’t know.'
Mohamed Salah’s agent has appeared to hit back at claims that the Liverpool forward is pushing to sign a new contract.
The 32-year-old’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and following Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this month, the Egypt international revealed that the club had not opened talks over an extension.
Last week, reports claimed that Salah is ‘desperate’ to sign a new deal with Liverpool and his main aim is to remain at Anfield.
However, Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas Issa, has suggested that reports citing information from sources close to the Liverpool forward are wide of the mark.
‘FYI – all those ‘journalists’ who imply having ‘inside information’ about Mohamed’s future are making claims/posts based on absolutely nothing,’ the agent wrote on X.
‘Just click-whoring. “Sources close to Mohamed” don’t exist. This post is really just to tell you that they don’t know.’
Speaking after Liverpool’s win over United before the international break, Salah indicated that this would be his final season at Anfield.
‘I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. I feel like I’m free to play football and then we’ll see what happens next year,’ Salah said.
‘I was coming to the game today thinking it could be the last time. Nobody at the club has spoken to me yet about a new contract so I just play this last season and then see at the end of the season.
‘It’s not up to me but nobody talk to me about a contract with the club. We’ll see.’
