Newcastle 'dressing room' transformed as shock deal agreed

Newcastle players and Eddie Howe will be transformed after Thomas Tuchel was appointed the new England manager.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland international Frank McAvennie believes persistent rumors about the 46-year-old leaving have seriously impacted their season but after Tuchel’s appointment, they can finally kick-start their season.

Tuchel, 51, was surprisingly named as Gareth Southgate’s successor on October 16th after Eddie Howe, Pep Guardiola and Graham Potter were linked far more with the post.

It’s been a mixed start to the season for Newcastle, currently sitting ninth in the Premier League with 12 points after eight matches.

Eddie Howe can finally concentrate on Newcastle

Newcastle have only managed to score seven goals from open play and have failed to find the net in their last two league games against Everton and Brighton.

Football Insider revealed (October 23) that despite links to the Man United job now that England have hired Tuchel, Newcastle are ‘not concerned’ about Howe’s commitment to the club.

“I didn’t think it helped Eddie or Newcastle all the talk about the manager going to England”, McAvennie told Football Insider.

“That kind of stuff doesn’t help the dressing room but now that’s out of the way I’ve got a feeling that they’ll push on and be transformed.

“They’re a good team, they’ve got a couple of injuries but they are a good team.

“They’re too good of a team to have results like that (against Brighton).

“They might let goals in but they score goals, which they’ve not been doing in the last few games.

“I’m not too worried about it because Newcastle are a good team and he’s a good manager.

“I would imagine that the players had been thinking about him going to England and if that were to happen who would come in.

“Now that is settled, they’ll settle down and get some results.”
