Newcastle Exclusive: Big Miguel Almiron update tonight

Newcastle United will accept offers of £25-30million for Miguel Almiron this summer amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Eddie Howe is willing to let the 30-year-old leave to raise funds.

Sources say bids are expected to arrive for Almiron this summer as Saudi Pro League clubs retain their interest after missing out in January.

The money made from his sale will then be reinvested into the squad as Football Insider revealed the club have a four-man signing plan with £100million to spend.

Almiron made the move to St James’ Park from Atlanta United in 2019 in a deal worth £21million – a club-record transfer at the time.

Since then, he has made 209 appearances for the club, scored 30 goals and provided 12 assists, as well as having played a key part in their Champions League qualification in 2022-23.

Last season, he made 45 appearances across all competitions and found the net five times, although 16 of those games came from the bench as his influence waned.

His recent performances for Paraguay at the Copa America, meanwhile, have led to calls for the club to cash in after they were dumped out in the group stage.

Howe is thought to be a fan of Almiron’s work rate and energy, but is now willing to let him leave in a bid to improve the squad.

A January exit to Saudi Arabia fell through after the parties could not agree on terms, but clubs are confident of completing a summer deal after retaining their interest.
