Newcastle Exclusive: Everton fear Calvert-Lewin will leave

Everton are braced for late transfer window bids for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has rejected a new contract offer from the Merseysiders with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

Newcastle United still hold a strong interest in the striker despite talks collapsing last month, while West Hamare also keen on Calvert-Lewin.

There is also interest from Europe and Everton fear there could still be a late-window move for their star striker.

The Merseyside club no longer have diluted their PSR issues after the sales of Amadou Onana, Ben Godfrey, and Lewis Dobbin but their ownership troubles still hang over them.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could still leave Everton before window ends

Calvert-Lewin was originally brought in as a right-back by ex-manager Ronald Koeman but found himself starring as a makeshift striker and hasn’t looked back since.

The forward has gone on to make 247 appearances for the Merseyside club, scoring 68 goals in all competitions.

Last season the Englishman scored eight goals in 38 appearances seven of which were from the bench as he struggled for form.

Everton have signed Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille for £16.9 million but if the club were to lose Calvert-Lewin they would have limited striker options.

In other news, Jake O’Brien has passed his medical and agreed to a four-year contract ahead of his Everton move.
