Newcastle fans: Marc Guehi deal will be agreed soon after Sky reveal

Newcastle United fans are expecting the club to land a cut-price deal to sign Marc Guehi in January after what Steve Parish said.

The Crystal Palace part-owner spoke to Sky Sports (3 September) as he confessed he expected a deal to be reached with Newcastle before the sale of Joachim Andersen and Chadi Riad’s injury made it “impossible”.

This came following extensive negotiations between the two clubs which ultimately saw Guehi remain at Selhurst Park after the Magpies failed to meet his asking price.

With just two years left on the defender’s contract at Selhurst Park, Palace face having to sell him for a lower fee than their £75million demand, or letting him leave for free at the end of his deal.

Football Insider revealed during the transfer window that he is unlikely to renew with Palace regardless of whether Eddie Howe’s side could agree a deal.

The Eagles have since secured the signings of Maxence Lacroix and Trevoh Chalobah, and Newcastle fans are insisting they could return to the table in January.

This is not the first time fans have been left raging at the Palace owner, labelling him “disrespectful” after he spoke out during the early stages of the Guehi saga.

Taking to social media following the interview with Sky Sports, fans have insisted the saga is set to continue.

Their attitude to Parish and Palace has flared up once more, and many are expecting a cut-price deal to be reached in the January window.

I'm unsure about returning in January, but it could make sense. If Guehi truly is Howe's top choice, you can imagine a scenario from a week ago where they had the option: 'We can sign Player X now, or wait three months and sign Guehi.'
