Newcastle United fans are all saying the same thing about Sean Longstaff after Sandro Tonali’s performances during the international break.

Tonali started both of Italy’s UEFA Nations League games against France and Israel and turned in two impressive displays to leave Newcastle fans dreaming.

The midfielder missed the vast majority of last season after receiving a ban for breaching the FA’s betting rules, but has now returned to the pitch at St James Park.

Following his return for Newcastle in their 2-1 win against Tottenham, Tonali headed off to represent Italy at the Nations League, picking up an assist against France.

Now, fans are speculating which player will have to drop out of Eddie Howe’s midfield to accommodate him, with Longstaff the overwhelming favourite.

The academy graduate has enjoyed an impressive start to the season while many of his teammates have stuttered, leading to plenty of praise from the supporters.

However, with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton nailed-on starters for Newcastle, it appears he will have to make way for Tonali’s return.

Having multiple top-class options in any position is a good problem for the club to have, but the tough selection issue has opened up debate on social media.

Howe has also received stick in the past for his refusal to budge on some players who have been branded his “favourites” – who have been in the team despite their performances.

Now, though, fans are insisting Longstaff will have to miss out as Tonali returns from his impressive international break.
