Newcastle United fans can't believe 'huge' striker transfer blunder

Newcastle United fans were left questioning the club’s lack of summer transfer activity after their goalless draw against Everton.

The Magpies were held at Goodison Park in a game in which Eddie Howe’s men struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities.

The north east giants were without Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson for the trip due to injuries, stretching Howe’s options.

Anthony Gordon was tasked with leading the line, but the England international was unable to break the deadlock.

Gordon did have a penalty in the first half after James Tarkowski fouled Bruno Tonali, but he was denied by Jordan Pickford.

The lack of goal threat throughout the game left Newcastle fans frustrated at the club for the poor transfer window they had and the lack of cover that was signed.

Newcastle fans question the club’s long-term thinking

It was a quiet transfer window for the Magpies during the summer, which didn’t just frustrate fans but created issues behind the scenes as well.

Tensions have risen between Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell over the transfers, and fans believe it played a part in their lack of fire power against Everton.
