Newcastle United fans tear into 'stupid' Dan Ashworth after Man United twist

Newcastle United fans have torn into Dan Ashworth after the sporting director attended a meeting with Wolves while on gardening leave.

Ashworth was placed on gardening leave ahead of a possible move to Man United, but a report from i explained he had held a meeting with Wolves just days after the decision.

It is said that Man United were aware of the meeting, although the purpose of the visit is unconfirmed.

Given the intense scrutiny on Ashworth’s position given his situation at Newcastle, and an arbitration in the works to force through the move to Man United, fans have been stunned by his actions.

With the process far from over, people are beginning to grow frustrated at the constant twists and confusion surrounding his exit.

Football Insider revealed in May that Ashworth’s exit is now getting “ugly”, with claims on both sides forcing them to begin a legal process.

Fans labelled the sporting director “stupid” and “gormless” for his actions as complications over his exit from St James’ Park continue to grow.

Separate reports, meanwhile, insisted Man United were still unwilling to meet Newcastle’s £15million asking price, with fans fuming at the drawn-out process, calling to “let him rot”.
