Ibrox View: Clement must drop terrible Rangers player after stinking first half v Hearts

Philippe Clement needs to axe Cyriel Dessers at half-time if Rangers are to have any chance of winning the game against Hearts.

Gers travelled to Tynecastle on Saturday, 18 May, with hopes to end the season well, but so far things have started poorly for them.

Despite dominating possession, they find themselves trailing 1-0 courtesy of a Lawrence Shankland goal.

Cyriel Dessers should have put Rangers in the lead

Dessers has had a challenging game so far and surely should not be allowed to continue in the second period.

Despite his efforts, the 29-year-old has only managed to complete four passes [Sofascore] throughout the half, indicating his struggle to get involved in the game.

Adding to his difficulties, he lost two out of three of his ground duels, which highlights his inability to make a significant impact on the field.

On the other hand, Shankland, who scored the goal for Hearts, has shown a stark contrast to Dessers’ performance.

The Scotland international’s goal demonstrated his ability to capitalise on opportunities, something Dessers has been unable to do.

Abdallah Sima must come on for Rangers

The missed chance by the Nigeria international was particularly notable as it seemed easier to score than to miss.

With the current situation, it may be beneficial for Clement to consider making a change during halftime.

Abdallah Sima, an accomplished goal scorer, is available on the bench and is capable of playing down the middle.

Bringing Sima into the game could provide Rangers with a much-needed boost in their attacking capabilities and potentially help them equalise or even take the lead.

In other Rangers, an award-winning British manager may now be open to taking over the Ibrox managerial hot seat from Philippe Clement.
