'Next day or so' - Alan Myers issues Everton transfer announcement verdict

Iliman Ndiaye’s arrival at Everton should be imminent and there is no reason to be worried about the deal, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist responded via Twitter on 1 July to suggestions that the lack of an announcement on his signing from Marseille was a concern, admitting he didn’t know why that had not yet been progress.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 27 June that the Senegalese attacker had completed a medical and his Toffees move was now “guaranteed” but it has still yet to have been made official.

However, Myers predicted that would come early this week, replying to a question over the delay being worrying with: “I have no reason to be, hopefully next day or so”.

Everton expected to announce former Sheffield United man

Any time a proposed transfer goes silent for a few days it sets alarm bells ringing among supporters, and when Evertonians have been starved of incoming transfers the majority of the past few transfer windows that is all the more true here.

The passing of the 30 June profit and sustainability cut off adds another element of uncertainty to the situation, with the Toffees believed to have been under pressure in terms of PSR prior to the sales of Lewis Dobbin and Ben Godfrey.

Now that the club have entered to the new accounting period there looks to be no obstacle to the deal being confirmed, providing Sean Dyche with much needed reinforcements and finally an alternative option in the attacking midfield role.

Abdoulaye Doucouré has proven to be a key man for the Toffees boss but the Malian’s injury absence last term highlighted the lack of depth.

Iliman Ndiaye is predicted to arrive at Everton imminently.

And assuming Ndiaye, 24, who the club have chased for well over a year, is indeed through the doors imminently it will add to a relatively positive period for Dyche, who has also got Jack Harrison back on loan from Leeds United, added Tim Iroegbunam, and avoided selling Jarrad Branthwaite.

But there is plenty of work still to do and every exit requires a replacement, while the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains a major question.

In other Everton news, the Toffees appear to have fought off the possibility of a major transfer blow.
