Nigerian star chases down Barcelona’s all-time top goalscorer Putellas as Granada crush Deportivo de La Coruña

Edna Imade rounded up the scoring for Granada as they handed a 5-0 thrashing to Deportivo de La Coruña in their Primera División Femenina gameweek 12 clash at the Ciudad Deportiva del Granada CF on Saturday afternoon, Soccernet.ng reports.

Imade netted the fifth goal of the encounter for the hosts on the hour mark to add to the earlier efforts of Laura Pérez, Isabel Álvarez, Cristina Postigo, and Ornella Vignola.

It was Imade’s eighth league goal of the campaign which brought her level on the scorer’s chart with Barcelona forward Alexia Putellas.

Putellas, who is Barcelona’s all-time top goalscorer and two time The Best FIFA Women’s Player, could add to he tally when the champions face Real Betis later tonight.

However, Imade remains second on the league’s goalscorer chart behind another Barcelona star Ewa Pajor. The Poland international has ten goals in ten games this term.

Super Falcons star and Atletico Madrid star Rasheedat Ajibade and UD Tenerife forward Gift Monday are also among the top strikers in the Spanish women’s elite division with five goals and four goals, respectively.

Still, Imade is the in-form forward in the Primera División Femenina with the 24-year-old netting six goals in her last seven appearances.

She has found the back of the net in each of her last three league games against Levante Badalona, Levante, and Deportivo de La Coruña.

Already, the eight goals Imade has scored in 12 games is the highest she has managed in her career in the Spanish Primera División Femenina.

Last season, in her maiden campaign in the top flight, Imade only managed five goals in 28 appearances.

Despite Imade’s contributions, Granada are having an indifferent season with five goals, one draw and six defeat in their first 12 games of the campaign.

Arturo Ruiz’s ladies sit in 8th position on the log with 16 points.
