'No doubt about it': Player suggests he has no desire whatsoever to join Aston Villa before Friday's deadline
❌
Aston Villa are still looking to improve their squad before Friday’s transfer deadline – despite Monchi already sealing eight new signings for Unai Emery.
The Spaniard has been very convincing with his recruitment this summer, as the likes of Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley, Jaden Philogene and others arrive at Villa Park.
Now – however – Aston Villa seem unlikely to secure a ninth signing of the summer…
Oliver Arblaster commits himself to Sheffield United amid Aston Villa interest
A story from the Telegraph claimed that Oliver Arblaster is a target for Aston Villa this summer – after the England U20 international rose to prominence at Sheffield United.
The 20-year-old central midfielder has already scored two goals in three Championship appearances so far this season, with Chris Wilder handing him the armband in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Norwich, like he did in Premier League clashes against Manchester United and Newcastle last season.
In that respect, Arblaster would be an exciting addition at Villa Park, although he has now quashed talk of an exit from Bramall Lane.
As quoted by The Star, the Sheffield United No.4 said: “I don’t really listen to that. I love playing for Sheffield United, there’s no doubt about it. I’ll just keep my head down, keep playing and hopefully performing well.
“I just want to keep doing my talking on the pitch. Supporting this club and going home and away, watching the team. I just love playing for Sheffield United, and I’d like to do that for a lot longer.”
Likely signings for the Villans
While Arblaster does not seem at all likely to join Aston Villa, there are some more realistic deals for fans to keep track of as we approach transfer deadline day on Friday 30th August.
For example, a move for Crystal Palace No.14 Jean-Philippe Mateta could materialise.
A story from the Express claimed that Aston Villa made contact to sign Mateta earlier this summer, with the Frenchman keen to test himself in the UEFA Champions League.
Furthermore, Ernest Muci could join Aston Villa.
Turkish news outlet Aslinda claim that the Villans are keen, after Giovanni van Bronckhorst dropped the Albania international for Rafa Silva and also put him up for sale.
Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Villa Park across the next six days, as another signing could soon arrive.
