Mohamed Salah has shared a cryptic update on his Liverpool future amid speculation he’ll leave the Premier League giants at the end of the season.

Alongside fellow club heroes Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Salah is in the last year of his contract and has long been linked with a lucrative transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

Though the winger will turn 33 next summer, he remains a vital part of Liverpool’s team, recording nine goals and seven assists in just 15 appearances across all competitions.

The transition from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot could not have gone any better, with the Reds winning 13, drawing one and losing just one game so far this season.

And it was Salah who scored the winner as the Reds came from behind to beat Brighton on Saturday and move to the top of the Premier League table following Manchester City’s shock defeat at Bournemouth.

The Egyptian King appeared to confirm back in September that this season would be his last at Anfield, though nothing is for certain and fans are desperate for him to sign a contract extension.

Now, in a message to Liverpool supporters, Salah has added more fuel to the fire that is the transfer speculation over his future.

‘Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less,’ he posted on Twitter.

‘All teams win matches but there’s only 1 champion in the end. That’s what we want.

‘Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.’

‘No matter what happens’ suggests that Salah himself is still not 100 per cent sure where his future may lie, but it is certain that he wants to add another title to his collection before he departs.

His goal against Brighton was his 164th in the Premier League, moving him up to eighth in the all-time rankings and ahead of fellow Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler.

The former striker congratulated Salah on the achievement, jokingly writing on Twitter: ‘Always preferred number 9 anyway!’
