'No way out of it' - Keith Jackson moots key date for Clement Rangers sack after St Johnstone win

Philippe Clement will inevitably get sacked at Rangers despite Rangers winning 1-0 against St Johnstone, Keith Jackson says.

McDiarmid Park hosted the Gers on 1 December in the Scottish Premiership, and Jason Holt’s own goal handed the Light Blues three points.

The Bears struggled to break down the Saint, and speaking on Hotline Live after the match, Jackson believes the fixture between Celtic and Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup final on 15 December will be a key date regarding the Belgian manager’s future at Ibrox.

“There’s no way out of it for Clement, there’s just no way out of it,” he said. “I say that not because it’d be hopeless for any manager, but it’s a hopeless situation when the guy in charge doesn’t seem to know or have any real rhyme or rhythm to his decision-making.

“He’s throwing muck at the wall, seeing what sticks. There’s nothing about Rangers that feels organised, structured. We’ve talked about it for a long time, there’s no identity in their style of play. They’re nothing right now.

“It does feel as if people just sitting and waiting for the inevitable to happen. And I think the key date for that is 15 December.”

Philippe Clement sack given at Rangers

Clement has been lucky enough to survive the sack until now at Rangers after the poor performances the Light Blues have put in this season.

The Bears might’ve won against St Johnstone, but the display wasn’t the most promising — similar to others the Ibrox faithful have endured in the current campaign.

In the Scottish Premiership table, the Gers are still 11 points behind the league leaders Celtic, and have Aberdeen to contend with as well.

Rangers were at their best when they beat OGC Nice in the Europa League on 28 November, scoring four goals past the Ligue 1 outfit.

Clement’s decisions in the fixture at the Allianz Riviera were on point, with Hamza Igamane replacing Cyriel Dessers up top.

The Belgian started the Moroccan at McDiarmid Park, with Ianis Hagi also in the lineup, which the Ibrox faithful have wanted to see.

Igamane and Hagi disappointed in the win over the Saints, and it feels like the 50-year-old head coach can’t consistently rely on the players, which is an indictment of his coaching ability.

The Glaswegian outfit have confirmed that Patrick Stewart will take over his duties as CEO on 16 December, Clement is surely hanging by a thread at the Glaswegian outfit.

In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd was surprised after what happened with Robin Propper against St Johnstone.
