Noussair Mazraoui update as Morocco boss provides return date for Man Utd star
The United star underwent a minor heart procedure this week.
Morocco manager Walid Regragui says Manchester United star Noussair Mazraoui will be back in his squad next month after undergoing a minor heart procedure.
The summer signing from Bayern Munich has impressed at Old Trafford this season but was forced off at half-time in last Sunday’s goalless draw with Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old later pulled out of the Morrocco squad for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Central African Republic. It was later revealed Mazraoui had undergone surgery after complaining of heart palpitations.
Club sources have played the severity if the issue, insisting it was a precautionary measure to address what is considered a relatively common issue.
The club have not provided an official timescale for his return but reports suggest it will be a matter of weeks.
Morocco boss Regragui has confirmed the right-back is not facing a lengthy period out having been assured by United officials the procedure was ‘not dangerous’.
‘We know that Mazraoui went off with an injury,’ Regragui said. ‘They [United medical staff] sent a report to our medical staff. He will be with us in November. What he has is not dangerous.’
Mazraoui has started all but one of United’s 10 games this season, slotting in at right-back with Diogo Dalot moved over to the left with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still unavailable.
United return to action against Brentford on Saturday 19 October with Mazraoui not expected to be involved and could also be a doubt for games against Fenerbahce and West Ham United.
United have a number of injury concerns ahead of the return of club football with Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo all withdrawing from international duty this week.
United remain without Shaw and Malacia at the back with Leny Yoro also still sidelined.
Harry Maguire was also forced off in the goalless draw against Villa. The England international has avoided a long-term injury but is also expected to miss ‘a few weeks of action’.
