'Now set to sign': Fabrizio Romano says Everton are on verge of making 'outstanding' signing

Everton have been moderately busy on the transfer front in recent weeks, making three signings this summer.

The Toffees have strengthened their ranks by buying Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam, though they have also sold three players including Amadou Onana.

Everton have also re-signed Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds United following his solid spell at Goodison Park last term.

Now it looks as though a fourth signing is imminent for Everton, with Fabrizio Romano having taken to X to share the update on the “outstanding” target.

Jesper Lindstrom completes Everton medical

The player in question is Napoli’s Jesper Lindstrom and, according to Romano, he has now completed his medical at Everton.

He is now set to sign his contract with the Toffees, added the transfer insider. An official announcement should then follow.

A deal has reportedly been agreed for Everton to pay Napoli €3million (£2million) to take the Denmark international on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.

The Toffees will pay a further €22million (£18million) will to follow next summer if they decide to sign him on a permanent basis.

Everton could be getting their own Bruno Fernandes

The Toffees have had a fairly mixed summer on the transfer front, but the signing of Lindstrom is certainly a step in the right direction.

Although things haven’t worked out for Lindstrom at Napoli, a fresh start could now be on the cards for the player.

Should Sean Dyche get the best out of him, there is no doubt that he can return to the levels he reached at Eintracht Frankfurt, with 28 goal contributions from 80 outings.

Lindstrom has described his game as follows, as per the Bundesliga website: “In general I like to play up front but can also play on the wings.

“I’ve got a strong shot on me from distance and I like to link up play in the penalty area.”

Meanwhile, former Frankfurt teammate Kevin Trapp said: “He’s an outstanding footballer and has very good technique.”

And Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout compared Lindstrom to Manchester United and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes back in 2021.
