Philippe Clement makes Rangers admission for Champions League qualification push

Philippe Clement has admitted that his Rangers squad needs to be filled with more talent if they wish to compete in the Champions League this season.

Despite bringing in multiple new arrivals this summer, Clement believes his squad has some way to go when it comes to competing in the Champions League.

There is still plenty of time to go in the window and there’s no doubt that we will see any further additions reflect this ambition.

“We need to [add to the squad], we need extra bodies and extra quality to be successful,” he said via the Daily Record.

“I always believe that with your squad you can succeed, because otherwise, you cannot get results against Real Madrid with a team like Brugge. Everyone said that was impossible. But if you don’t believe it is possible, it will never happen.

“I’ve seen players that are now better than they were six months ago. We’ve been working hard for that kind of mindset in all the players who have come in.

“We want them all ambitious to become better and with all the staff together we can give them the tools to become better. So in that way, I believe that with whatever squad we have at that moment will have the ability to qualify.”

Rangers next signings will show their ambition for the 2024/25 season

Rangers have made five singing during the summer transfer window so far and have shown no signs of slowing down in terms of arrivals.

There has already been a major overhaul of talent from the Glasgow-based outfit and plenty more is expected.

One of the Gers’ most recently linked players, Joan Jordan, is a serial winner. The midfielder is 30 years old and has managed to win two Europa League titles with Sevilla.

And, although building for the future is key for any club, with Rangers losing stalwarts such as John Lundstram and Borna Barisic upon the expiry of their contracts, voids need to be filled.

Jordan has been told his future lies elsewhere than with the La Liga side and Gers are the only option on the table at the moment.

The deal is looking likely to be a loan and, if an agreement can be reached, it would help improve not only the experience of the team but the quality of it too.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement may have to look elsewhere in order to raise funds for new arrivals.
