Ex-Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on a mission to bring Eddie Nketiah to Marseille after telling him to join the French club this summer.

That comes despite Aubameyang leaving Les Phoceens, after it was announced earlier this month that he had been signed by Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah.

It seems Gunners striker Nketiah could be coming in to replace Aubameyang amid reports that he has already agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 team.

Arsenal and Marseille have been unable to agree on a price thus far, though, which has somewhat stalled the deal and led to fears it could all fall through.

Aubameyang has now decided to step in after one Marseille fan penned him a message on social media about the Arsenal star.

‘Tell Nketiah to come to OM (Olympique Marseille),’ the supporter posted on X, clearly hoping to see the 25-year-old swap north London for southern France.

‘Already done,’ Aubameyang replied, with Marseille fans now left hoping that they will indeed wrap up a deal for the Englishman.

Nketiah slipped down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order last season and hardly featured at all during the Premier League run-in.

The Hale End academy graduate has played a total of 168 games for Arsenal to date, conjuring up 38 goals and seven assists.

It was only last term that Tim Sherwood boldly claimed Nketiah was a better player than Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund.

‘I feel sorry for Eddie Nketiah, because people [in general] and Arsenal fans, no matter who it is, they are always asking questions about him and looking what he can’t do,’ Sherwood told Sky Sports in October.

‘I like to look at what he can do. He can play in a lot of teams. A lot of big teams. You’re telling me this boy couldn’t play for Man United at the moment instead of Rasmus Hojlund?

‘He’s an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund. [United] spent an awful lot of money on him. For me, Eddie Nketiah is top draw. I think he warrants playing for Arsenal at the top of the Premier League… I cannot speak highly enough of him.’
