Alex Lowry appears to have run his race at Rangers and is likely to seal an exit in 2025, according to the Daily Mail.
The news outlet reported on 19 December that despite doing decently on loan at Hearts, he has struggled to break into the Gers first team.
The 21-year-old is out of contract at Ibrox in the summer and is allowed to talk to non Scottish clubs come January over a move in June.
Rangers must cash in on Alex Lowry in January
It will indeed be a sad moment for Gers fans to see Lowry leave the club, considering his bright start with a memorable debut goal against Stirling Albion.
However, the reality is that since his back injury, the 21-year-old has not been the same dynamic and influential player he once promised to be.
His loan spell at Hearts was meant to be a stepping stone for first-team football at Rangers, but despite some decent performances, he hasn’t managed to secure a regular spot back at Ibrox.
Philippe Clement’s current squad setup and the competitive nature of the midfield mean that the Scotsman’s path to becoming a regular is fraught with challenges.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2025 and the ability to talk to foreign clubs in January, it’s increasingly clear that Lowry’s future might lie elsewhere.
Gers will potentially be considering whether or not to cash in on his services in the January transfer window.
In other Rangers news, the club are now looking to sign a Chelsea player in January with the club open to offers for him.
