Player to sign up as new Everton player tomorrow with transfer nearly official - report

Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala will officially sign as an Everton player on 30 August, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The journalist reported this via X (29 August) and claimed that the move was already a “done deal” with everything now said to be aligned.

Mangala is also set to have his medical tests on 30 August with the agreement for the transfer already being agreed for the last two days.

Despite having already added Tim Iroegbunam to their ranks, Everton are now on the cusp of adding yet another midfielder to their squad.

The Toffees have been fairly active in the market since the window opened and even though Sean Dyche claimed that the club have no money to make further transfers, a deal has seemingly been struck.

The Belgium international will likely be a direct replacement for Amadou Onana who exited Goodison Park earlier in the window.

Mangala joined Lyon during the January transfer window of the 2023/24 season and failed to hit the ground running in Ligue 1.

He only managed to make a total of 12 appearances for the club but managed to bag himself two goals during his short stint.

Although Iroegbunam is undoubtedly a stellar talent, the Toffees need midfield stability now and Mangala can seemingly provide that, especially when his Premier League experience with Nottingham Forest is taken into account.
