Rangers fans are “beyond the point of angry” with Patrick Stewart not taking immediate charge as the chief executive officer, Gordon Parks says.
The PLZ pundit can’t comprehend the fact that the former Manchester United chief will start his duties at Ibrox on 16 December rather than going in straight away.
Stewart was confirmed as the new CEO by the Light Blues on 25 November, but supporters have been made to wait before his first day at the Glaswegian club.
On the PLZ Soccer Podcast [5 December], Parks said: “Rangers as an institution, one of the biggest in British football, need a chairman.
“They need a chief executive who can drive the club forward. They need one now, not one that’s coming in a few weeks time.
“Rangers fans, a lot of friends of mine, are angry at it. They’re beyond the point of angry.”
Rangers need stability with Patrick Stewart
Stewart’s arrival can’t come soon enough, and some of the revelations at the recent Annual General Meeting make it even more urgent.
James Taylor confirmed during the AGM that the Gers had received a combined sum of just £810,000 from the departures of Sam Lammers, Connor Goldson, Todd Cantwell, Scott Wright and Robby McCrorie in the summer [Andy McKeller, 5 December].
The Bears’ recruitment in the previous transfer window wasn’t the best either, with the Glaswegian outfit failing to address their goalscoring issues.
Rangers also promoted Nils Koppen to the position of technical director, and many people are questioning the decision as the Dutchman was a scout at PSV Eindhoven a year ago.
James Bisgrove and John Bennett’s departures left the Light Blues with a gaping hole in their boardroom, and John Gilligan has done his best as interim chairman.
Malcolm Offord was linked with the top position at Ibrox, but he’s out of the running to be the next chairman [Rangers Review, 3 December].
Stewart will have massive decisions to make as soon as he arrives, with Clement potentially being given the boot if the Gers lose to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final on 15 December.
