Pundit shares Philippe Clement sack talk issue as 'Shambles' continues at Rangers

Charlie Miller feels Rangers are devoid of leadership at the top amid calls to sack Philippe Clement.

The Belgian manager’s future is under scrutiny at the Gers, and the head coach was under pressure before the 2-1 win over Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on 3 November.

As things stand, the Light Blues are without a permanent chairman and CEO, and speaking to the Daily Record [5 November], Miller dismissed talks of Clement being let go due to the absence of key figures at the club.

“It’s no use. We need to be winning leagues and cups in Scotland. Europe just gets you the money to survive and to build a team,” he said.

“But we’re making mistakes on every front, from top to the bottom. You had the shambles with the stadium at the start of the season. Now people are saying, ‘Sack Clement’. But there’s nobody there to sack him.”

Philippe Clement Rangers sack inevitable

Considering Rangers’ performances this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the club parting ways with the head coach in the coming weeks.

The Copland Road saga in the summer shows that the Light Blues lack leadership and direction, with the club quickly becoming a laughing stock.

In the summer, the recruitment didn’t fill the Ibrox faithful with a lot of enthusiasm either, and the issues can now be seen on the pitch.

The Bears have struggled to find the back of the net consistently, with Cyriel Dessers being below par and Danilo unavailable for most of the season due to injury.

Clement has struggled to bring the best out of the players at his disposal, and if it weren’t for the instability in the hierarchy, the Belgian would’ve likely been relieved of his duties after the 2-1 loss to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on 30 October.

Rangers are in a rut at the moment, and the Ibrox faithful have every right to be disappointed in everyone involved in the management of the club.

There could be some dark times ahead for the Gers, but hopefully, there’ll be light at the end of the tunnel.
