Pundit View: Tottenham set for 'Huge' Son Heung-Min boost

Tottenham are set for a “huge boost” as they look to trigger an extension in Son Heung-Min’s contract, Paul Robinson has said.

Spurs are set to trigger a one-year extension in the South Korean’s contract, according to Ben Jacobs, which will see him stay with the Lilywhites until the summer of 2026.

The 32-year-old has been a mainstay in the Spurs squad since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, making over 400 appearances and notching 162 goals and 84 assists.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson reacted to the news, saying: “It’s a huge boost. He’s a great fit and a great person to have around the club. He and Tottenham are just a good fit and you can’t see him playing his football anywhere else, at least not in this country.

“You look at how he’s started pre-season, scoring a couple of fantastic goals, he epitomises how Ange wants to play. It’s only a year so it would have been better to see him sign on longer, and I think we probably will see that. It’ll be one of those that it’s up to him when he leaves the club in the distant future.”

Tottenham to extend Son Heung-Min contract

With the player approaching his ninth season in Spurs colours, it seems strange to think of life with Son at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Luckily, Ange Postecoglou will not need to worry about that eventuality for another two summers and even at 32 years of age, the winger-turned-striker has never shown any signs of slowing down.

While Tottenham have been missing the talented figure of Harry Kane up front, Son has never let his club down and looks to be continuing his legacy for another two seasons.

Fans have every right to be buzzing with this update, with many fans being happier with this than the transfer news surrounding the North London club.
