Rafael van der Vaart has declared that Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is the ‘best player in the world’ over Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.

Salah has been in incredible form for the Reds this season, conjuring up 13 goals and eight assists across 14 Premier League matches.

The Egyptian’s performances have helped Arne Slot’s side climb to the top of the table with a seven-point lead over title rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.

Former Real Madrid and Tottenham midfielder Van der Vaart is convinced that there is no player better than Salah on the entire planet right now.

‘I think so, yes, [Mohamed] Salah is the best,’ Van der Vaart told BetMGM. ‘I am a big fan of [Kylian] Mbappe but he is not showing it at the moment.

‘You have Vinicius Jr too, but I think that Salah has been consistent for so many years.

‘You can see [Mohamed Salah] feels really at home at Liverpool and he should stay.

‘It’s the same with [Trent] Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, they should stay at Liverpool too.

‘Liverpool is a huge club that is doing really well at the moment and I only see Real Madrid as the club you never say no to.’

Question marks remain over Salah’s future in a Liverpool shirt, amid widespread reports he could depart in the summer with his current contract due to expire at the end of June.

Salah spoke about his future after Liverpool’s victory over Premier League title rivals Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

‘Honestly, it’s in my head,’ Salah said. ‘Until now, this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it.

‘The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen.’
