Rangers: Doctor issues long-term injury claim as Nicolas Raskin image emerges

Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin is unlikely to be out with a long-term injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has reacted to an image that’s surfaced of the Belgian in a protected boot after the 2-1 defeat against Ajax on 13 July.

It’s understood that the 23-year-old will undergo scans and it may even be a precautionary one as it was in the initial stages of the pre-season campaign.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“It’s really hard to say what the worst-case scenario would be in this situation.

“A boot can just be precautionary and it will depend on the mechanism of injury as well.

“They will undergo scans to gauge the severity and while it can be a long-term one, it does seem unlikely.”

Rangers will be hoping Nicolas Raskin does not get into another injury cycle

Raskin suffered two significant injuries last season and even when he returned to full fitness, he did not get sufficient game time.

That clearly impacted his match sharpness and the recent injury would undoubtedly worry fans as they barely got to see him in the 2023/24 campaign.

It remains to be seen how serious this current setback is and how quickly he can bounce back to fight for his place in the first team.
