Rangers eye 'Outstanding' gem who Mourinho is desperate to keep - report

Rangers are eyeing a move for Bright Osayi-Samuel but may see a move blocked by Jose Mourinho, according to Soccernet.

The website reports [2 July] that Mourinho is “determined” to keep the Nigeria star at Fenerbahce, but he has expressed his desire to return to the UK, with Wolves and Southampton also interested.

Turkish media reports also suggest that Fenerbahce would be open to his departure, with his contract expiring next summer and negotiations for an extension stalling [90Min, 4 July].

As the summer transfer window heats up, Rangers will face stiff competition from Southampton and Wolves for the talented winger’s signature, with his performances for QPR previously described as “outstanding” by then-manager Mark Warburton.

Rangers move not a bad shout for Bright Osayi-Samuel

Osayi-Samuel moving to Rangers could be a great move for both the player and the club.

Since switching to right-back, he’s really excelled, and with his future at Fenerbahce looking uncertain, now seems like the perfect time.

Rangers need full-backs who can push forward and contribute to attacks, and with his pace and athleticism, Osayi-Samuel fits the bill perfectly.

He could be a bargain too, given that Fenerbahce might let him go for less than his previous £5million valuation.

Even with James Tavernier and Dujon Sterling in the squad, there’s room for someone of Osayi-Samuel’s quality, especially if Tavernier’s rumoured move away happens.

Philippe Clement could definitely use someone with his versatility and proven talent. All in all, bringing Osayi-Samuel to Ibrox seems like a smart move.
