Rangers senior exit sets alarm bells ringing, he could join Bisgrove in Saudi - report

Outgoing Rangers director of football operations Creag Robertson has been offered a role alongside James Bisgrove at Al-Qadsiah, according to the Daily Record.

The report [19 November] claims that Bisgrove, who was the CEO at the Light Blues before leaving for the Saudi club, wants to work with Robertson again.

Robertson’s imminent departure has set “alarm bells ringing” at Ibrox, who are without a permanent chairman, with John Gilligan filling in as interim, and the CEO position is also still vacant.

Rangers off-pitch instability detrimental

Rangers announced that Nils Koppen has taken over as technical director [BBC, 19 November], who had been working as the director of football recruitment since arriving at the start of 2024.

It just goes to show the club’s inability to look for people on the outside, and Koppen’s appointment still leaves a massive gap in the hierarchy.

Gilligan has assured people in the past that the Light Blues aren’t leaderless without the key figures, but the situation only goes to show that they are in disarray.

Philippe Clement has struggled to bring the best out of the team this season, with the Bears sitting third in the Scottish Premiership, nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen.

The Belgian should’ve arguably been replaced a few weeks back, considering the results and performances haven’t been up to the mark, but the club seems hesitant about pulling the plug on him.

Rangers have a long way to go before getting back to the top, and the first step should certainly be fixing the inadequacies in the boardroom.

In other Rangers news, the club will make a decision to sign Neraysho Kasanwirjo on a permanent transfer on one condition.
