Connor Goldson is set to make his debut for Aris Limassol this Sunday with Rangers due to announce the exit soon, according to Stel from This Is Mappa: Football In Cyprus Podcast.
Speaking to The Rangers Review on Sunday (28 July) the journalist reported that Goldson is already in Austria with his new team as they prepare for a pre-season friendly against Al-Fayha.
It’s unknown at this stage whether it will be a permanent move or a loan dean.
Stel said: “He [Goldson] is with the club now. He’s in the hotel in Austria and he’s going to play on Sunday for sure. He hasn’t put pen to paper yet.”
Goldson Calls an End to His Rangers Career
Goldson leaving Rangers is big news. After six years and 309 games, the 31-year-old defender is moving on.
There were lots of rumours about where he’d go next – Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, you name it. But now it seems he’s heading to Aris Limassol.
Goldson has been a key player for the Gers, and his leaving will be felt. But it also opens up chances for change.
Philippe Clement can use the saved wages to bring in new talent. Goldson’s move is part of a bigger shake-up, with other top players like James Tavernier and Todd Cantwell also expected to leave.
It’s always hard to see a good player go, but this might be the change the Light Blues need.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the Gers’ pursuit of Hannibal Mejbri.
