Rangers’ deal to sign Nedim Bajrami is done and he will arrive in Scotland on Saturday 31 August, according to Stevie Clifford.
The Four Lads Had A Dream host reported via X on Friday (30 August) that the Light Blues have secured the signature of the Sassuolo attacking midfielder ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.
Reports had emerged that the Albanian international wouldn’t be making the trip to Glasgow on transfer deadline day, with Philippe Clement’s side set to secure his signature remotely rather than in person [Sky Sports News, 30 August].
The Gers have paid a reported £3.5million for Bajrami’s signature, with the Sassuolo star set to put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Ibrox [Chris Jack, 30 August].
Are Rangers close to any new transfers ahead of the deadline?
Rangers have left their business so late this summer that their latest signings won’t even be in the country until the transfer window has already slammed shut across the United Kingdom.
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter too much to the Gers when Bajrami makes the trip to Glasgow with the September international break just around the corner, as long as he does make the move to Ibrox before the deadline.
Whether or not Bajrami arrived in Scotland on Friday or Saturday, he wouldn’t have been able to feature in the Old Firm clash with Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday (1 September) which will be a blow to Clement and the supporters.
Hopefully, some official confirmation will emerge from the club sooner rather than later so that fans can finally relax after a difficult summer.
Then there will be plenty of eyes on the stands on Sunday to see if Barjami is in attendance for the clash with Celtic.
