Rangers target Tommy Conway looks set to join Middlesbrough in a deal worth £4.5million, according to Sky Sports.
The outlet reported on 14 August that the Championship side have agreed a deal with Bristol City for the Scotland international.
The 22-year-old had been linked with a switch to Ibrox but is now set to undergo medical tests with Boro ahead of a multi-million move [The Scottish Sun].
Rangers miss out on Tommy Conway
The Gers aren’t short of striker options right now but they could certainly do with a fresh face in that position before the end of the window.
Cyriel Dessers has started the campaign as Philippe Clement’s main number nine with Danilo being his understudy.
The Belgian brought in Hamza Igamane earlier in the window who will have to take his chances on the pitch when they come around.
With all that being said, signing Conway could have been a perfect fit at Rangers after an excellent season for Bristol City in the Championship.
This saw him called up to the Scotland national side by Steve Clarke but he never featured in a failed EUROs campaign.
A move up North to Glasgow could have been a move to suit all parties and one that would have created excitement amongst Light Blues fans.
Unfortunately, the Gers look set to miss out on the forward with a move to Middlesbrough all but done.
