Tottenham supporters will need to wait a little longer to see 17-year-old Mikey Moore back in action.
Spurs are currently without several first-team options, although things do look to be improving after Ange Postecoglou’s update on one player.
Despite their lack of available players, Tottenham were still able to qualify for the last four of the Carabao Cup by beating Manchester United 4-3 in a controversial clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday [19 December].
However, the big games keep coming, with Liverpool set to visit North London in the Premier League on Sunday [22 December]. Therefore, Postecoglou needs all the help he can get, although it unfortunately doesn’t look as though he will be able to call on Moore against Arne Slot’s side.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Liverpool, Postecoglou said [via Football London, 20 December], “We need to get a couple of weeks training into him [Moore] and get him up to speed.”
And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – sympathises with the 17-year-old after all the football he has missed.
“We desperately need players back who are able to contribute,” Wenham said.
“The fact that Moore has already started a Premier League game this season tells me that he has the trust of Postecoglou. Therefore, it is a real shame that this has happened to him.
“He likely would have played a lot of football over the past month. However, it is great that he is at least back in training.”
Ange Postecoglou to wait on Mikey Moore return at Tottenham?
Moore is one of the brightest talents produced by Spurs’ academy perhaps since Harry Kane.
Despite only being 17 himself, younger players are already being compared with the forward, who seems to have already established himself as a first-team player.
Therefore, fans will be excited to see him back in action and continuing his development, which could soon accelerate if Harry Kane gets his transfer wish.
In other Tottenham news, Richard Keys has reacted to the club’s Postecoglou sack decision.
