Report: Ange Postecoglou has now changed his mind after Tottenham find bargain transfer available

Tottenham now think they have found a bargain in the transfer market – in a position Ange Postecoglou initially didn’t even want to strengthen this summer.

Every Premier League side will have embarked on the summer transfer window with targets in mind, although sometimes, an opportunity pops up that is just too good to ignore.

So, who do Tottenham now view as a bargain they need to sign? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham see Federico Chiesa as a bargain

A story from Tutto Mercato Web now states that Tottenham view Juventus No.7 Federico Chiesa as a bargain.

The Italian news outlet state that Spurs did not even plan to sign a new forward this summer, but the Italy international’s surprise availability – for a sum of just €25m (£21m) – is deemed to be too good of a deal to pass up.

Chiesa – who would reportedly like a move to Tottenham – has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Stadium, hence the reason for his surprisingly low price tag.

Juventus actually spent £54m to sign the Italian from Fiorentina back in October 2020.

Tutto Mercato Web believe Chiesa’s agent – Fali Ramadani – is currently in London to hold talks with Tottenham about his client’s next move, after negotiations with Roma collapsed.

The report states that Spurs are the club showing the most interest in the 26-year-old.

Where the Italy international would fit under Ange Postecoglou

As aforesaid, Tutto Mercato Web believe Postecoglou didn’t initially plan to sign a forward like Chiesa, so it will be interesting to see where the Australian fits him in.

Fortunately for Spurs, the man from Genoa can operate in several positions.

Chiesa used to feature predominantly on the left flank, where he liked to cut inside on his stronger right foot.

However, the Italian was used mainly as a central forward last season, making 25 appearances in that position, while also appearing on the left and right flanks as well.

Therefore, Postecoglou can effectively use Chiesa anywhere across the frontline.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Tottenham continue attempts to snap up this £21m bargain.
