Tottenham confirm that midfielder who Mauricio Pochettino had training with the first-team has left

Tottenham Hotspur have now seen one of their promising young players depart the club on a permanent deal.

It has been a summer of exits in north London with Tottenham having now seen nine players leave the club already.

And more could be to following with Ange Postecoglou’s squad still holding a few players who may not be in the Australian’s plans.

Bryan Gil left the club on loan earlier this week to join La Liga side Girona for the 2024/24 campaign.

However, there has now been another exit to come completely out of the blue for one of the club’s most exciting youngsters.

Tottenham prospect leaves permanently

On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Yago Santiago had left the club on a permanent deal for Spanish outfit Elche.

It is a move which will take a lot of Spurs fans by surprise given the winger enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 campaign.

Santiago scored eight goals and provided seven assists in Premier League 2 last season but he was awaiting his debut in the senior side.

He was a player who Mauricio Pochettino called up to first team training during his time at the club but was unable to earn game time under Postecoglou.

Mikey Moore may have blocked Yago Santiago’s path at Tottenham

The rise of Mikey Moore has been one of the noteworthy developments in recent months in north London.

Moore made his debut for Spurs towards the backend of last season in the Premier League and he has continued to show his potential during pre-season.

Moore has already provided three goal contributions in the opening three pre-season games despite being just 16-years-old.

And perhaps it is the youngsters rise over recent months which has blocked the path for the likes of Santiago to Postecoglou’s first team.
