Report: Ange Postecoglou has now privately told Tottenham's bosses to go and sign 'superstar' Arsenal target

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is really keen to sign one attacker who Arsenal are also exploring a move for this summer.

The two North London clubs are often linked with the same players, and they could go head-to-head to sign a world-class forward in the coming weeks.

Tottenham are in the market for an attacker who could play across the frontline, while Arsenal could also do with a versatile forward.

To complicate things further, Liverpool are said to be interested in this player too.

The latest on Federico Chiesa amid Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool links

Federico Chiesa’s name has been doing the rounds a lot over the last few weeks.

The Italian’s future is up in the air after entering the final year of his contract at Juventus. New Juve boss Thiago Motta is even making Chiesa train alone.

The Euro 2020 champion, who has been branded as a ‘superstar‘, is very likely to leave Juventus this summer, and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

CaughtOffside have now shared the latest on the situation.

The report has revealed that Arsenal and Liverpool are both exploring a move for Chiesa, but they face some serious competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been claimed that Spurs boss Postecoglou really ‘appreciates Chiesa’s undoubted talent’, but that’s not all – the Australian has reportedly ‘asked the Tottenham directors to prioritise this transfer’.

The report adds that Tottenham could make their move to sign Chiesa in the coming days. It remains to be seen whether clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal will try their luck as well.

The one Chiesa stat that should worry Tottenham fans

Chiesa, on his day, is a devastating player. The Italian’s pace in any of the front three positions makes him a real threat, and he would fit into Postecoglou’s system at Tottenham very well.

However, there is one thing Spurs should be concerned about – his output.

Tottenham should be prioritising attackers who will guarantee goals this summer. Chiesa’s numbers over the last few years don’t fill us with any confidence.

The last time the Juventus star scored at least 10 goals in the league was back in the 2019/20 season. In fact, that is the only campaign in his senior career in which he has managed to get into double digits in the Serie A.

Tottenham already have Timo Werner in their attack and he’s not prolific by any means, while Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison are not consistent goalscorers either.

That makes us wonder if Chiesa is the man they should be targeting in this window.
