Report: Arsenal are set to drop £45m player who’s better than Odegaard in training vs Man City

Arsenal head to Manchester to take on Manchester City this weekend in a game that has huge implications on the title race.

Indeed, Arsenal and Manchester City, once again, look as though they will be the two teams challenging for the Premier League title this season.

Heading into this game, Mikel Arteta has some big selection decisions to make.

Indeed, with Martin Odegaard out injured, Arsenal can’t field their best XI, and a few changes may need to be made.

Gabriel Jesus started up front in midweek against Atalanta, but, apparently, the Brazilian is going to drop out of the XI for this one.

Gabriel Jesus set to be dropped vs Man City

According to GiveMeSport, Gabriel Jesus is set to drop back to the bench against Manchester City after starting against Atalanta in midweek.

The £45m man hasn’t been first-choice for much of this season, and it would appear he’s not going to get the nod for this game either.

Interestingly, Declan Rice has named Gabriel Jesus as the best trainer at Arsenal, but, frustratingly, that doesn’t seem to have translated into a starting opportunity here.

“I think it’s either Gabriel Jesus or Odegaard, one of them two, they are just so good at football,” Rice said.

“Probably Jesus but Odegaard is there as well, they’re both just so good. The stuff they do with the ball is unbelievable. To see it, it’s so good!”

Gabriel Jesus blew his chance

Gabriel Jesus had his chance to cement a place in the Arsenal team in midweek against Atalanta, but he seriously failed to impress.

Sadly, the Brazilian doesn’t seem to be in the best of form right now, and that’s cost him his place in the side.

Kai Havertz is now likely to start up front against City instead, and, based on both players’ recent form, that appears to be the right call.

Who knows? Perhaps Jesus could be a difference-maker off the bench against his old club this weekend.
