Report: Arsenal step up desire to sign 2018 World Cup winner, Arteta thinks he could really help the team
❗️
Arsenal are now showing significant interest regarding a deal which Mikel Arteta believes could really benefit the dynamics of his side.
The Gunners have already signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna – after also making David Raya’s loan move a permanent deal.
Arsenal are also close to signing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in a £20m move.
Now – however – Arsenal are giving serious consideration to signing another central midfielder too…
Arsenal seriously considering Adrien Rabiot
A story from Tutto Juve now claims that Arsenal are seriously considering a move to sign Adrien Rabiot.
The France international – who lifted the World Cup in 2018 – is currently looking for a new club after deciding to leave Juventus in July upon the expiry of his contract.
Tutto Juve believe Arsenal are now showing significant interest in bringing Rabiot to the Emirates Stadium, as Arteta feels the 29-year-old could offer experience and stability to what is quite a young squad of players.
The Italian news outlet add that Liverpool are also considering a move for the Frenchman, who scored five goals and provided three assists in 31 Serie A appearances last season.
Tutto Juve also believe Real Madrid are interested, which is where a problem could linger for Arsenal based on rumours elsewhere.
Mikel Arteta needs to be very convincing
As aforesaid, Real Madrid pose a real threat to Arsenal in the battle for Rabiot’s signature, based on what Calciomercato have reported.
The Italian news outlet have recently claimed that Rabiot wants to join Real Madrid this summer, as he has been dreaming of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for some time now.
Despite the midfielder’s stance, Arsenal could still end up signing him.
Carlo Ancelotti already has Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, Federico Valverde and Dani Ceballos to choose from in central midfield, so Rabiot may feel he has a better chance of regular playing time at Arsenal.
