Report: 'Complete midfielder' has now agreed to join West Ham

West Ham United have enjoyed a fruitful summer on the transfer front, making eight signings already.

The Hammers hit the ground running in June as they wrapped up the signings of Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman.

West Ham then got three more signings done early in August, as Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez all joined.

The Hammers have since signed two more players, landing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.

Now, West Ham look set to get one more big signing over the line, and there have been some interesting developments on that front.

Carlos Soler agrees to join West Ham

West Ham have been heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler in recent days.

Now, according to L’Equipe, the Spaniard has already accepted the idea of joining the Hammers and working under Julen Lopetegui.

This report followed on from what Le Parisien reported earlier in the day, which also bodes well for Westr Ham.

The latter outlet reported that the Hammers and PSG were getting closer to an agreement worth around €23million (£19.5million) including bonuses.

There are final details that need to be resolved, but significant progress was made in negotiations today, added the report.

What would Carlos Soler bring to West Ham?

Soler is a midfielder who currently plies his trade for PSG and represents Spain at international level.

The 27-year-old made a name for himself at Spanish outfit Valencia, earning himself a £17million move to the French capital in 2022.

However, Soler hasn’t managed to cement a place in the starting XI and, as such, it looks as though the club has decided to move him on.

Soler’s style of play has been compared to that of compatriots Santi Cazorla and David Silva, who played for Arsenal and Manchester City respectively.

Curro Torres, who coached Soler at Valencia, previously told AS, via Get Football News France: “He’s the complete midfielder and can act as a six, an eight or a 10; he has power, arrives in the box and can score.

“I know him and I know that he can still bring his game to the next level. He has taken on responsibility in the team too.

Meanwhile, Jaime Fernandez Valencia of Scouting outlet Breaking the Lines has described him as a ‘great passer’ who’s ‘sometimes even more dangerous than the strikers’.
