Liverpool have enjoyed a superb season so far, sitting top of both the Premier League table and the Champions League standings.
However, no club can rest on their laurels when it comes to scouting out the market, and the Reds could well be busy in the transfer windows next year.
For instance, Liverpool may potentially need to scout out replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, whose contracts expire next year.
Now, a report from TEAMtalk has claimed that the Reds are open to selling Darwin Nunez and have two key replacements in mind.
Liverpool think Marcus Thuram is fairly priced at £70m as Inter Milan open to do business
TEAMtalk has reported that Liverpool boss Arne Slot is not ‘fully satisfied’ with how Nunez is doing and, as a result, could put him up for sale in 2025.
A January departure is considered ‘very difficult’, while a summer move is ‘possible’, with Liverpool now assessing possible alternatives in June.
While Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is appreciated by Liverpool, his price request is ‘considered very high’.
However, Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram is deemed to be ‘above all’ on the Liverpool wish-list.
Thuram has a release clause of €85million (£70million) which is not only ‘definitely less’ than what Newcastle are asking for Isak, but it’s said to be deemed ‘fait market value’ by Liverpool.
Inter, despite being very happy with Thuram, ‘are always open to evaluating operations with a strong capital gain and would also negotiate a figure close to the value of the clause.’
Marcus Thuram factfile
Thuram is a 27-year-old professional footballer who plies his trade as a forward for Serie A giants Inter Milan and represents France at international level.
He began his professional career at French outfit Sochaux before moving to Guingamp in 2017 and then going on to play for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2019.
Thuram made a real name for himself at Gladbach and went on to sign for Inter in 2023 as a free agent.
The Frenchman has made 68 appearances for Inter, registering 28 goals and 20 assists, including 13 goals and six assists this season.
After PSG played Guingamp earlier in the season, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel – now England manager – sung Thuram’s praises.
He said, as per Goal.com: “Ligue 1 is a very tough championship physically, with very strong players, like Guingamp’s Marcus Thuram, who runs fast, is strong, dribbles well and is good in the air.”
