Report: Liverpool set sights on signing Brazilian-born starlet available on a free this summer

Like most Premier League clubs, Liverpool are always looking ahead to the future and they could now be about to move for one of Europe’s most promising goalkeepers.

The Reds are well stocked in the sticks at the moment and have Alisson Becker as number one, with the reliable Caoimhin Kelleher as the number two.

However, with question marks over the future of Kelleher and even Alisson coming under the eye at points last season, Liverpool’s long-term plan in goal remains uncertain.

But that could be about to change, with the Reds apparently keen on one of Italy’s best young goalkeepers.

Liverpool among teams keen on Renato Marin

According to a report from Italian outlet TuttoSport, young goalkeeper Renato Marin is very much on the radar of some big clubs, including Liverpool.

Marin is currently with Roma and and is already a staple of the Italy under-19s.

However, he is a wanted man, with Juventus keeping a close on his progress, while over in Europe, Liverpool are thought to be keen.

Furthermore, Marseille are also looking on at Marin with admiring glances, with the goalkeeper yet to sign a new contract and available on a free this coming summer.

Marin was born in Brazil but has a dual passport having grown up in Italy and gone on to represent them at international level.

TuttoSport describes Marin as one of the best under-19 number ones in all of Italy, highlighting his potential for the future.

Liverpool wise to stock up on top goalkeepers

We have seen over the years how hard it can be to replace a top goalkeeper and some of the best clubs around often struggle.

Man United struggled for years without Peter Schmeichel then repeated it with Edwin van der Sar.

Likewise, Chelsea have never quite got over losing Petr Cech and even now, don’t have a definitive number one.

For Liverpool, then, the move on from Alisson will be tough and if Kelleher has gone as well, it makes the task all that harder.

Signing someone of Marin’s potential, then, could be ideal for the Reds.
